How To Make Pull Apart Nutella Puff Pastry Heart
Preheat the oven to 400º.
Start with a package of Puff Pastry. If it is frozen, let it defrost in the refrigerator until easy to handle. Remove from the refrigerator and unfold onto a sheet of parchment paper. Place a heart shaped stencil in the center of the pastry, I happen to have a heart shaped container so I used that. Then using a pastry cutter or a sharp knife, cut out the heart shape.
Spread Nutella over the entire surface of the heart.
Using another Puff Pastry sheet, cut out a second heart and place it directly on top of the first heart.
Make an impression with a small heart shaped cookie cutter in the center of the puff pastry, making sure not to cut through it.
Using a pasty cutter or a sharp knife cut slices about 1” apart around the heart, starting on the bottom point and making your way around the heart, making sure not to cut into the center heart.
Twist each piece one or two rotations.
Beat one egg with 1 to 2 tablespoons of water and brush the top of the heart with the egg wash. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes.
Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
