Orange Chocolate Chunk Scones With Orange Glaze

These Orange Chocolate Chunk Scones With Orange Glaze are an extra special treat. With the zesty flavor of orange and the rich decadent flavor of dark chocolate combined together in a tender scone, they make the perfect on the go breakfast or afternoon snack.

To me, scones are the perfect treat. They are a soft, buttery, tender pastry that have a slightly crusty exterior. They come in a variety of flavors like my Strawberry Scones or my Blackberry Lemon Scones and are not overly sweet. Perfectly pared with a cup of tea or coffee as a breakfast or afternoon snack.

I have to say these Orange Chocolate Chunk Scone may be my new favorite. It’s the perfect combination of citrus and chocolate, ( which I think go great together ) mixed into a buttery pastry. As if that weren’t enough, they are drizzled with a delicious orange glaze to add a touch of sweetness that makes these scones absolutely perfect, in my option.

Hints For Making Scones:

  • Use very cold butter. I like to cut my butter into small cubes first, then store them in the refrigerator or even the freezer so that they are nice and cold. This will allow your scones to have a better rise and give them a tender texture.
  • Handle the dough as little as possible. The more you handle the dough, the tougher they will be.
  • Chill the scones before baking them for 15 to 20 minutes. This will relax the gluten and bring the butter back to a cold temperature which will allow for a tender flaky scone.
  • Scones will spread when cooked. Place them 2” apart on the prepared baking sheet. This will give them room to expand.
