What You Need To Make These Cookies
Tools:
- Having a good Baking Sheet Is very important for baking cookies. It will allow for even heat distribution which will result in your cookies baking consistently and browning properly. I prefer a sturdy aluminum baking sheet due to its ability to conduct heat easily.
- Lining your baking sheet with Parchment Paper Will not only prevent the cookies from sticking but will also allows for an easy clean up.
- Having Mixing Bowls in a variety of sizes will help with prepping your ingredients.
- A good Hand Mixer will make the job of mixing the ingredients easier.
Ingredients:
- Cream Cheese: I like to use a full fat cream cheese. It is important to let it come to room temperature before using. This will allow it to blend smoothly with the other ingredients.
- Butter: Using an unsalted butter will allow you to control the salt content in your recipes.
- Flour: A good All Purpose Flour works best.
- Sugar: Granulated Sugar.
- Milk: Full fat or 2%.
- Walnuts: Finely chopped.
- Powdered Sugar: For dusting.
Tips For Making These Cookies
- Room Temperature Ingredients: You are going to want to leave your ingredients out on the counter to get to room temperature. This will allow them to blend together smoothly.
- Chilling: Once you make your pastry, you are going to want to chill the dough. To do this wrap it in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for up to one hour. This will make the pastry easier to handle.
- Slicing: Slice the cookies before baking but do not separate. Leave them together in the log shape. After they finish baking, slice them once again to separate and allow them to cool before dusting with powdered sugar.
