Chocolate Snowballs
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 Cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 Cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 Teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 Teaspoon orange zest
- 1/2 Teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 Cups all purpose flour
- 1 Cup semi sweet mini morsels
- 1 Cup powdered sugar
Instructions:
- To the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, add the butter and beat on high speed for 30 seconds. Add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, orange zest and salt. Beat until combined. Add the flour and continue mixing until combined. Stir in the mini morsels until incorporated. Divide dough in half and wrap each half in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour or until easy to handle.
- Preheat oven to 325º. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set to the side. Remove the dough from the refrigerator. Scoop out tablespoon sized balls of dough and gently roll in the palms of your hand to make smooth. Place on prepared baking sheet 2” apart. Place in preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes or until cookies are just firm. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Place the 1 cup of powdered sugar in a large zip lock bag. Add the cooled cookies in batches and gently toss to coat.
- To store, place in an air tight container for up to 5 days or in a zip lock bag stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Enjoy.
