If you’re looking for a great way to use those bananas that got a little over ripe, then I have a recipe for you. This Chocolate Chocolate Chip Banana Bread is super moist and fudgy and loaded with great banana flavor.
We go through a lot of bananas in my house. We put them on cereal, in smoothies and just as a grab and go snack. So every week I buy a lot of bananas. Every once in a while there is a week where we have a couple of bananas left that didn’t get eaten and start to look a little less then perfect. In actuality, they are perfect. This is when bananas are at there sweetest. Most of the time when we have some extra bananas, I will peel them and freeze them to use for smoothies, but this time I was feeling Banana Bread. I was also craving the delicious flavor of chocolate, (actually I am always craving chocolate but that is another story’) That is when I thought to make a Chocolate Banana Bread. Add chocolate chips and there you have it Chocolate Chocolate Chip Banana Bread.
What a success. This Chocolate Chocolate Chip Banana Bread was moist and tender and loaded with great banana flavor. Both the dark unsweetened cocoa powder and the semi sweet mini morsels add to the breads deep chocolate flavor and the addition of brown butter adds a rich nuttiness that makes it even better.
Banana Bread Ingredients:
- All Purpose Flour:
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder: I like to use Double Dark Unsweetened Cocoa powder from King Arthur. It has deep rich chocolate flavor
- Baking Soda: This is your leveling agent. This will allow your bread to rise.
- Salt: Adding salt to desserts enhances the flavors of the dish
- Brown Butter: Adds a rich nuttiness to the bread. You can skip this part and just add melted butter but I do suggest to take the little extra effort and brown the butter.
- Brown Sugar: Light or dark will do.
- Ripe Bananas: You want to use bananas that are really ripe. You know the ones that have brown spots on them. The ones that everyone avoids because they aren’t that pretty.
- Eggs: Room temperature.
- Greek Yogurt: Plain unsweetened.
- Pure Vanilla Extract: I prefer pure vanilla extract rather than imitation vanilla extract. I feel like the flavors are a bit more intense. Pure vanilla extract is a bit more expensive but well worth the investment.
- Semi Sweet Mini Morsels:
